RTO Loss Calculator
Return-to-origin is the quiet killer of COD-heavy sellers: you pay shipping both ways and book no sale. Put in your real numbers and see what RTO costs you per month — most sellers underestimate it badly.

- RTO applies mostly to COD orders; prepaid RTO exists but is far rarer.
- Two-way shipping is charged on every RTO order (forward + reverse).
- Damage write-off defaults to ~5% of returned stock — adjust for your category.
- Rates vary by platform, category and courier; use your own panel numbers for precision.
Why RTO hurts more than it looks
The shipping loss is only the visible part. Returned stock spends weeks in transit where you can't sell it, a slice comes back damaged or unsellable, and marketplaces sometimes charge return fees even when the courier or buyer was at fault — charges that can be disputed, but almost never are.
Cutting RTO is mostly process: address validation, COD confirmation before dispatch, prepaid nudges and knowing which pin codes and products drive your returns. That's exactly what our RTO & return control service does — and the wrongly charged returns get clawed back by reconciliation & recovery.
